Objectives :Lumbar herniation of intervetebral disc occasionally induces fuctional scoliosis. If the patient show unilateral pelvic obliquity, treating related muscles¡¯ tenderness can reduce pain coming from lumbar herniation of intervertebral disc and also improve functional scoliosis, unilateral pelvic obliquity.
Methods :We treated the Ah-Shi Points by acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal treatment. Several physiological and radiological tests, Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) of low back and hip pain, Cobb¡¯s angle for measuring the state of scoliosis, apparent length gap of both legs for checking unilateral short leg, etc. were used for assessment.
Results :After treatment, we confirmed these improvement:VAS from 10 to 1~3; Cobb¡¯s angle from 15¡Æ to 12¡Æ; apparent length gap of both legs from 1.5cm to 1.25cm.
Conclusion :These results suggest treating muscles¡¯ tenderness that worsen the unilateral pelvic obliquity, is effective for reducing pain symptoms from lumbar herniation of intervertebral disc and also functional scoliosis.
